A delegation headed by Mr. Komatsu Michihiko, Consul General from Japanese Consulate General in Chongqing visited Guizhou University on March 7. A meeting was held to welcome them at the Chinese Cultural Academy, attended by Executive President Wang Honglei, Vice President Deng Chaoyong, and representatives from Office of School Affairs, Office of International Relations, College of Foreign Languages, etc.
Wang extended his warm welcome, adding that consuls and students coming back from Japan have contributed a lot to the education work of Guizhou. He also expressed high gratitude to General Consulate’s help with the teaching of Japanese language, hoping to have more fruitful cooperation to contribute to the Sino-Japan friendship.
Komatsu Michihiko acknowledged the effort to boost the education of Japanese language in Guizhou, wishing for an extended exchanges in academy and culture. To further bilateral exchanges between Chinese and Japanese students, the Japanese government will simplify the procedure of visa application. In this context, Komatsu wished to see a bigger role of GZU in boosting bilateral exchanges and reiterated the support to GZU.
Discussions were also taken in terms of Japanese majors, Japanese teachers and Japanese students.
The cooperation with Japanese General Consulate could date back to 2005, when the first GZU Japanese Cultural Week was held. This September, the Cultural Week will be held for the 13th times in a row.
