Fulbright FLTA Program Application Available Now

According to Agreement between the Government of PRC. and the Government of USA for Cooperation in Educational Exchanges, China Scholarship Council will send 40 young teachers of English to teach Chinese in American universities and learn English pedagogies and courses on American culture, politics and economics.

 

Here is relevant information:

1.      Requirements for candidates

1)      Good professional competence, good sense of responsibility, love of China and willingness to serve China after study abroad;

2)      A teacher at GZU at an age of less than 30 (birth date: October 1980 or after) at the time of application

3)      With a degree of bachelor or above in English major

4)      Not studying abroad on a China Scholarship Council program in recent 5 years;

5)      Not working or studying abroad presently;

6)      Being healthy physically and mentally

 

2.      Application

1)      The applicant applies with a recommendation from the college he works at; Office of International Relations collects application and organizes qualification examination along with Department of Human Resources, and submits the relevant materials to China Scholarship Council.

2)      Applicants go to https://apply.embark.com/student/fulbright/flta and http://apply.csc.edu.cn for an on-line registration, and submit the application materials (including the written recommendation by the college they work at) to Office of International Education under Office of International Relations before May 30, 2011.

Application materials that are not prepared or submitted as required will be rejected. For requirements for application materials, see Attachment 1.

Applicants with a 2010 account can register with that account on line and make revisions and submit their application. For details, please consult at chenzy@iiebeijing.org.

 

3. Evaluation and Approval

1) Late June—late July, 2011: peer review of the applicants

2) Late September, 2011: interviews in Beijing for those passing peer review

3) Early October, 2011: Announcement of those passing the interview

4) May 2012: Announcement of successful candidates of FLTA

 

4. Successful candidates (their family members excluded from this program) will be sent as visiting scholars for a 9- to 12-month program during which their living expenses and traveling fees to and fro are paid by the American side, and fees for courses are exemplified. Departure time is tentatively scheduled in August or September, 2012.

 

5. According to relative state regulations, successful candidates of the FLTA program shall sign the Agreement on Studying Abroad on State Program and pay a sum of earnest money before departure, and return after their study in designated time.
