A Brief Introduction to Huaxi

Located in the watershed of Zhujiang River and Changjiang River, Huaxi is merely 12km to the Provincial capital Guiyang. As a pearl on the Yun-gui plateau, the fantastic place of Huaxi features elegant mountains and waters and splendid culture. It is the miniature garden of Guizhou with colorful folk customs and pleasant climate, which ensures valuable trip for each visitor at any time.

Huaxi has a pleasant moist subtropical climate with plenty of sunlight and ample rainfall. It does not have intense heat in summer or severe cold in winter. The air is fresh and humid without any sandstorm. The agreeable climate makes it a cozy district for living and traveling.

 Huaxi Park:

       In the park, there are many attractive scenic spots such as Bridge Over Pool, 100-step Bridge, Lotus Shoal, Pigeon-flying Shoal, Peach Garden, Cherry Garden, Sweet-scented Osmanthus Garden, Pine and Plum Blossom Garden and so on. The stepping-stones of 100-step Bridge are just a bit higher than the surface of the water. Tourists will find it a great fun to cross the river through the stepping-stones. Walking along or boating on the river of love, one may get lost in the fairy landscape.

Tianhe Pool:

      Tianhe pool is known for its karstic caves, waterfalls, deep pools and streams. Tourists who go and visit Tianhe pool can feast their eyes on the karstic wonders. It is full of winding brooks, deep and steep valleys, karst hills, deep pools, natural stone got the title of "one of the wonders in central Guizhou" and miniature potted landscape of waters and hills.

  Zhenshan Village :

      Located by the side of the middle part of Huaxi reservoir with three sides facing the water and one side against the mountains, Zhenshan village provides people with typical rough stone buildings and many material objects showing the mixing of Han and Buyi people. There are more than 40 thousand Buyi people living in nearly 30 mountains villages in Huaxi. Buyi people in Huaxi excel in folk song. The Buyi have created songs for all circumstances. The vivid metaphors and the bravery to express love are certainly to touch every audience deeply.

Ten-mile Riverbank:

      Walking on the road from Sanjiangkou in Zhongcao to Huaxi Bridge , people will find that the close to Huaxi, the more fresh and energetic the nature is. People are amazed at the greenery of the Ten-mile Riverbank along Huaxi River .

 Jigong Dao:

       The islet stands in the Huaxi Reservoir watching the Ludi River onflow.

 Qingyan Ancient Town:

      Located in the joint spot of nine mountains 12km south to Huaxi town, the important military fortress of Qingyan Ancient Town has suffered numerous military attacks in a history of more than 600 years and invited the title of Unbreakable Castle and the Key Military Spot in the South China. There are nearly ten ethnic groups living in the ancient town. Known as the melt spot of various cultures, it is characteristic of harmonious coexistence of Han culture and other ethnic cultures. It is a typical multi-cultural town with coexistence of Buddhism, Daoism, Catholicism and Christianity. The building of the ancient town typically reflects the philosophy in the harmony of man and nature.

Lion Mountain of Qingyan: north to Qingyan Ancient Town , the mountain shows a perfect S shape rock layers which is the result of 7 geographic formations.

 

Jinshan Valley:

Guizhou enjoys the title of the kingdom of sedimentary rock, the kingdom of stratum pale onto graphy and the kingdom of karstic physiognomy. Huaxi reflects nearly all the features of Guizhou geological wonders.

Gongniu (Bull) Camp:

Located in Yanglou of Huaxi district, the military camp is one of the 100 well preserved camps in Huaxi.

 Gaopo:

      The magic highland of Gaopo features huge mountains, long history and splendid ethnic cultures. Known as the ridge of Guiyang, Gaopo is as high as 1,700 meters. On the highland there are waters and grasslands, farming fields and brooks, hills and mountains as well. The most attractive sceneries are terraces, Laobang River, Hongyan Valley, Shimeng, Baigong Rock Waterfall, Ghost-built Bridge , Stone Forest of Gaopo, Jiading Miaos Cave Burry. However, there is one feature needed to be mentioned---local ethnic customes. There are several ethnic groups living in Huaxi district. Miaos is an ethnic group with a long history and many branches. Nearly 20,000 Yinpai Miaos live in Gaopo. They all have well preserved their unique fineries and customs. They excel at singing and dancing, playing local musical instruments and holding public entertainment activities such as horse racing, bull fighting, archer shooting etc.
