Application Procedures & Forms

1. Applicants can obtain a copy of the Application Form for Enrollment of International Students to Guizhou University by means of correspondence, E-mail or fax or phone call;
2. The Filled-out Form should be mailed, emailed or faxed to Office of International Relations two months prior to the opening of school and the application fee can be sent through banks;
3. Aside from the application form, the rest of personal materials needed for application include:
    (a). A copy of the front page of applicant’s valid passport;
    (b). Curriculum visa;
    (c). A copy of the latest educational certificate or diploma;
    (d). 6 copies of passport size photo;
    (e). Health check reports by government authorized hospitals with stamp. 
4. Upon receiving the above documents, the Office will mail the applicants or their agents the Letter of Acceptance and Visa Application Form for Foreign Students to China (JW202);
5. In case of late application, a student may apply for a tourist visa to come to China. Upon his or her arrival, the university will assist the student in obtaining a student visa. In this case, a health check report is not needed before the student comes to China. But he/she should submit the rest documents to the Department in order to request a Letter of Acceptance. The student can obtain international certificate of health examination in Guiyang City with the help of the Foreign Affairs Department at a reasonable price, which will be accepted all over China for long term residence;
6. If the family members of students are coming together, they need to prepare:
    (a). A copy of the front page of their valid passport;
    (b). 6 copies of passport size photo;
    (c). Health check reports by government authorized hospitals with stamp;
    (d). Birth Certificate (for the children);
    (e). Marriage Certificate (for the spouse).

When to apply
 March 9-31.

Applicants for CGS support shall submit applications to the Office of International relations of Guizhou University timely from the beginning of January to the beginning of April.

Self-financed applicants shall submit applications to the Office of International Relations of Guizhou University timely, usually before May.

Applicants for Chinese Language Programs shall submit applications in May or December every year.

Registration
1. All expenses are required to be paid in full at the time of registration.
2. Students are expected to arrive two days before the new semester begins. The Foreign Affairs Department needs to be informed of the date and flight number or train number of student’s arrival in advance so that a free picking-up can be arranged

How to Apply Self-financed Study in China  

CSC takes charge of the applications for and management of the Chinese government scholarships for those who want to study in China, of the application and enrollment of candidates recommended by overseas academic institutions, educational organization or non-governmental associations, and of individual application to study in China as self-financed student.

1.  Application

1) Applicants may apply to the China Scholarship Council (CSC) through overseas educational institutions or non-governmental organizations.

2) Applicants may apply to CSC directly.

3) Applicants may apply to Chinese Institutions of Higher Education directly.

2. Categories of Applicants and Duration of Study

1). --Undergraduates: 4 to 5 years

2). --Master's degree students: 2 to 3 years

3). --Doctoral degree students: 3 years

4). --There is no limit of study duration for Chinese language students, visiting scholars and senior visiting scholars.

3. Eligibility

1). Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals, must be in good health.

2). Educational qualifications required:

a. Undergraduate applicants must hold high school certificate.

b. Master's degree applicants must hold bachelor's degree.

c. Doctoral degree applicants must hold master's degree.

d. Chinese language students must hold high school certificate.

e. Visiting scholars must have completed two years of undergraduate studies.

f. Senior visiting scholars must hold master's degree or hold academic titles of associate professor or above

4. Application Documents

1). Applicants shall fill out the Application Form for Self-financed Study in China (in duplicates).

Students who apply to CSC through overseas educational institutions or non-governmental organizations must fill in and present this form, which can be obtained from Chinese diplomatic missions, or downloaded from the website of CSC (<http://www.csc.edu.cn/>).

2). Highest diploma (notarized photocopy). If applicants are university students or already employed, applicants shall also submit documents of being university students provided by universities or on-post employees provided by employers.

3). High school transcripts for bachelor's degree applicants or transcripts for other categories' students (notarized photocopy).

4). Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (printed by Chinese quarantine authority). The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. The medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration while determining the time to take the medical examination.

5). Applicants for master's or doctoral degree studies and senior visiting scholars must submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate professors. Applicants who apply in China for Master's or Doctoral degree studies must submit the Admission Notice of the hosting university.

6). Applicants for studying music are requested to submit one cassette recording of the applicants' own work. Applicants for fine arts must submit six color photographs of personal works of arts (two sketches, two colored paintings and two other works).

7). Undergraduate applicants for studying science, engineering, agriculture and medical science are requested to submit transcripts of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Applicants for economy, trade and management must submit their transcripts of Mathematics.

Applicants who apply to CSC for self-financed study in China must send their application documents by May 31.

5. Admissions and Notification

1). Students who apply to CSC for self-financed study in China through overseas educational institutions or non-governmental organizations will be placed in 94 institutions of higher education admitting Chinese Government Scholarship students. CSC will send the Admission Notice and Visa Application for Study in China (JW202) by July 31 to the overseas recommending organizations to forward to the students admitted.

2). For individual applicants, the Chinese institutions of higher education will directly send the Admission Notice and Visa Application for Study in China (JW202) to the students admitted by July 31.

6. Visa, Health Verification and Residence Permit

1, Applicants should apply for visa to study in China at the Chinese embassy or consulate-general with the original documents and one set of photocopies of the Admission Notice, Visa Application for Study in China (JW201) and Foreigner Physical Examination Form and valid passport. Those who will study in China for more than 6 months need to apply for “X” visa, and those who will study in China less than 6 months (including 6 months) can apply for “F”visa. Applicants must come to China and register with institutions with the original copies of the above documents.

2, After registration with the institutions and paying fees, applicants are requested to bring their passports, Admission Notice, the original Foreigner Physical Examination Form to the local health quarantine office to have their medical examination reports verified. 

3, After the health verification, applicants must apply for residence permit to the local police authority with their passports, Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201) within 30 days upon their arrival.
