GZU Officials Celebrated Water Splashing Festival with International Students
The Water Splashing Festival is the important festival to celebrate the coming of New Year in Laos , Thailand , Cambodia and some other countries, symbolizing the love and regards among families and society. Every year, officials from Office of International Relations and College of International Education celebrate the Water Splashing Festival with international students together. This year, the celebration was successfully held on April18 in front of the auditorium of GZU. Yao Xiaoquan, Secretary of GZU Party Committee; vice-Secretaries, Ren Gangjian and Yang Weimin; Wang Yinghua, Director of OIR and Zhang Chengxia, vice-Director of OIR joined in the festival.
Students from the three countries invited officials and teachers to their pray for happiness in their own customs. They brought their best wishes to all GZU teachers and students.
Yao Xiaoquan gave improvise speech. On behalf of GZU teachers and students, he gave the best wishes to students from these three countries. Yao reviewed the friendship with Laos , Thailand and Cambodia that has started ever since ancient times, stating that China also celebrates the Water Splashing Festival for the same blessing. That is, pray for the country and the people, best wishes for happy life, social stability and good luck. At last, Yao expressed his best wishes for profound friendship between China and these countries.
Then came the students dancing, official and teachers were invited to join in their dancing. The festival celebration ended up with gourmet dining and water splashing.
The celebration helped bring Chinese and foreign teachers and students together. In such a big family, friendship and mutual understanding are hopefully strengthened.
